General Summary
The Assistant Lighting Manager will report to the Project Director of Special Projects but will work under the direction of the Universal Creative RI (Responsible Individual.)
Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:
Organizational Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate per 4Wall quality standards in all work activities.
Personal Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading or assisting in the development and management of Project-related aesthetic, show, and guest-experience lighting elements.
- Works at the direction and in concert with the land-based Lighting Manager to ensure compliance with technical and creative requirements informing and advising on statuses and identifying issues with specifications, documentation, or site-specific construction risks.
- Acts as an extension of the Lighting Team for the Project, supervising any assigned staff, contracted vendors and coordinating strategies ensuring the successful completion of all lighting tasks and/or assignments through all aspects of design and production from the site or design coordination through final installation.
Team Responsibilities
- Review, coordinate, or document specific lighting scope tasks at the land-based Lighting Manager's direction.
- Manages site work plans and assigned teams of vendor resources for creative and technical lighting design activities in support of the overall Project goals and strategies.
- Participates in lighting meetings either specific to the land or at the parkwide level.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements
- 3 years project planning and/or management experience in the construction or entertainment field
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre or a similar field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Solid knowledge of electricity and electronics
- In depth knowledge of DMX, SACN, RDM and manufacturer specific lighting networking protocols
- Ability to read and interpret system drawings, electrical schematics, architectural plans and lighting plots
- ETC Certified commissioning technician preferred
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
- ETCP Electricians Certification preferred
- Excellent computer skills and familiarity with applicable hardware and software
- Hold and maintain a valid Driver’s License
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and other management directives.
Physical Requirements
The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit. The employee may choose to stand and move within their working area. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to communicate. Generally, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort.
Availability
- Must be available to work in the evening and weekends often
