Assistant Operations Manager
ASSISTANT OPERATIONS MANAGER

General Summary
The Assistant Operations Manager has primary responsibility for the inbound and outbound docks, keeping track of missing and damaged gear, planning and support for all Drivers and deliveries, and assisting the Operations Manager with general shop operations, as needed. This role requires excellent organizational skills that ensure our team members are providing the very best customer service.
Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:
Basic Duties
- Duties as assigned by Ops Manager
- Show up on time and ready to work
- Duties as assigned for other shop positions
- Request training for shop techs and department heads
- Utilize IT-supported software/Apps (i.e., Teams, OKTA, RW, etc.)
- Act as ICM if local ICM is not present
- Attend sales/production meetings
- Monitor shop workload
- Oversee shop safety coordinator
- Responsible for all facility maintenance repaires
- Operate within the shop budget
Planning/Communication
- Communicate with National Logistics
- Comunication with National Cross-Rentals
- Order shop uniforms
- Ensure all shop and safety supplies are stocked
- Adjust dates on orders per date SOP
- Communicate shop capacity to GM
Workflow In
- Follow up on missing and damaged orders
- Hiring new employees
- Handling HR issues
- Employee reviews and time sheets
- Approve employee vacation
- Monitor picklist distribution
Workflow Out
- Hire temp labor as needed
- Check orders include all equipment needed for the system to function
- Check orders have need delivery and pick up information
- Approve shop parts and supply orders
Maintenance/Repair
- Vehicle maintenance

Other Duties
- In coordination with the Check-In Lead, execute inbound and outbound docks ensuring items are properly scanned and accounted for in an organized, safe manner, including cross-rental gear.
- Work with Operations Manager regarding approvals for billing for any missing gear.
- Oversee staff levels of Drivers and work with Operations Manager if there will be shortages in staff.
- Determine truck assignments and routes based on work order and/or oral instructions. Responsible for scheduling truck pick-ups/drop offs.
- Assist with general cleanliness and organization of the Shop.
- Ensure all drivers have the training and licenses required to operate their specific vehicles. Ensure all DOT regulations are being adhered to.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and requirements.
- Experience managing drivers and scheduling truck pick-ups and drop-offs.
- Functional knowledge of shop operations in a rental shop.
- Understanding and knowledge of theatrical lighting, staging, rigging, and entertainment equipment is required
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to direct, coach, mentor, and support team members.
- Computer skills, including working knowledge of the internet, Outlook, Excel, and the ability to learn new software.
- Must be able to give directions as well as multi-task in a fast-paced environment without supervision.
- Must have a positive attitude, be team-oriented and have great customer service skills.
- Must be willing to remain clean shaven to wear a respirator and in order to pass the medical clearance for fit test.
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs.; duties include loading and unloading trucks.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time .
- Must be able to drive a forklift
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
Physical Requirements
The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly stand and walk. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must regularly push, pull, bend, climb, reach, twist, and kneel as well as lift and/or move 75 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include communication and visual acuity such as close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the employee will not be in a temperature-controlled work environment and may experience temperature variations due to local weather conditions.
Availability
- Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.
