Shop Foreman
SHOP FOREMAN

General Summary
The Shop Foreman has primary responsibility of providing coordination, supervision, planning, and support for multiple departments within the shop that are responsible for prep and QC of entertainment event equipment. This role requires excellent organizational skills that ensure our shop team members are providing the very best customer service.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities of Position:
Basic Duties
- Show up on time and ready to work
- Manage shop techs and department heads
- Fill in for department head or techs who are out
- Utilize IT-supported software/Apps (i.e., Teams, OKTA, RW, etc.)
- Verify branding is correct
- Keep shop clean
- Ensure 4wall QC standards are being met
Planning/Communication
- Communicate labor needs to Operations Manager
- Distrubute pick list to department heads and shop techs
- Plan workflow for the day/week
Workflow In
- Look over orders to make sure they are complete
- Ensure all orders are pulls completely
- Verify all equipment need to operate equipment is on the order
- Verify delivery and pick up information
- Manage workflow of orders, transfer, and POs in the shop
- Communicate shortages to Ops Manager and Cross-Rental team
Workflow Out
- Create pick list
- Assign task to night crew
- Communicate trucks arriving for high volume
- Monitor employee issues
- Reassign shop techs to maximize efficiency
- Managing employee productivity and efficiency
- Ensure employees are wearing the appropriate uniform
Maintenance/Repair
- Ensure all broken equipment is put in repair in RW per Repair SOP
- Ensure wet equipment SOP is followed
RentalWorks Knowledge

- Check-in
- PO receiving and return
- Transfer receiving and staging
- Pick List Creation
- Adding and removing items to orders at the RW staging screen
- Add items to RW orders
- Put an item into repair
- Remove an item from repair
- Mark an item as QC
- Run the QC required report
- Create in and out contracts
Other Duties
- Control inbound and outbound docks ensuring items are properly scanned and accounted for
- Maintain quality control of equipment in the shop, making sure items are properly prepped and in good condition
- Oversee and participate in loading of trucks, client pick-ups, etc.
- Responsible for scheduling all box truck pick-ups/drop offs
- Use rental inventory database and information from departments to identify shortages in equipment and relay information to Operations Manager
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience with loading dock and warehouse operations
- Understanding and knowledge of theatrical lighting, staging, rigging, and entertainment equipment is preferred
- Experience managing warehouse employees
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook and Excel
- Ability to learn new software programs
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work overtime on nights and weekends on a semi-frequent basis
- Knowledge of basic operations, including security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, repairs, and maintenance.
- Must possess outstanding communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to direct, coach, mentor, and support team members
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Physical Requirements
The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly stand and walk. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must regularly push, pull, bend, climb, reach, twist, and kneel as well as lift and/or move 75-100 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include communication and visual acuity such as close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the employee will not be in a temperature-controlled work environment and may experience temperature variations due to local weather conditions.
Availability:
- Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, semi-frequently, as needed
