General Summary
The Systems Engineer – Special Projects is considered an expert in lighting system integration and system design and will work closely with project teams as the systems engineer and programmer. This person will act as the technical interface with the contractors and clients during installation and start-up of the lighting control system, and will take part in the system and creative programming efforts. This work will be completed during the design and construction phases of the project. The Systems Engineer – Special Projects will make sure that all essential tasks are completed on time, in compliance with contracted project specifications and requirements.
Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:
Organizational Responsibilities
- Consult with the project team as required to develop a conceptual lighting control design.
- Work with the 4Wall project team to complete and document the specified design for a functional lighting control system.
- Work with the 4Wall project team to develop and maintain system design standards across projects.
- Work with the 4Wall project team to conform to engineering, CAD, and BIM standards.
- Work with the 4Wall project team and Client teams to maintain the submittal schedule for design deliverables.
- Assist in systems pre-programming and the development of parkwide control systems.
- Assist in creative programming efforts as required.
- Provide local Systems and Design offices with project specification, engineering, programming, and field service support as needed and at discretion of direct supervisor.
- Work with equipment manufacturers to develop and implement standard applications of equipment throughout projects.
- Work with outside partners to develop interfaces between the lighting control system and third-party control systems, including but not limited to Ride Control, Show Control, BMS, Emergency Systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Personal Responsibilities
- Develop all relevant software configurations for system and creative programming.
- Perform onsite system commissioning, troubleshooting, and programming in addition to creative programming in the field.
- Work with the CAD teams to create system risers and assist in drafting packages as needed.
- Provide leadership and hands-on training to field technicians and engineers as needed.
- Work with other project teams to maintain company and department standards across other related projects.
- Assist the project management, engineering, and installation teams with site walks to gather information.
- Complete any other tasks or responsibilities required by 4Wall Management. Additional responsibilities may be added or altered on a project specific basis, dependent on project role.
Team Responsibilities
- Assist with mockups and demonstrations.
- Communicate and collaborate in a positive and professional manner with all 4Wall Entertainment employees and outside partners.
- Attend and participate in all meetings required.
- Maintain the highest level of customer relations.
- Work in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to direct supervisor.
Key Requirements:
- Has 5 years of experience in the lighting industry designing or installing systems.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills to explain technical matters.
- Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in relevant software including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Paradigm Light Designer, Paradigm Control Designer, Mosaic Designer, Net3 Concert, etc.
- Must have an in-depth understanding of lighting technologies, protocols, and software.
- Must be able to design, document, commission, and program a lighting control system.
- Must be able to safely lift 50lbs.
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
- An undergraduate degree in a technical field is preferred.
- Length of experience, specific skills/knowledge, physical requirements, etc.
Physical Requirements
The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit, stand, walk, or climb. The employee may be on their feet for the full duration of their shift. Regular use of computer monitors, and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. When available, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort.
Availability:
- Must be available on-call in the evenings and weekends, as required.
Position Location and/or Territory and Travel:
- This position will be required to travel on occasion.
- This position will be required to work in both an office and a field environment.
