General Summary:
As the Senior Technical Manager - Special Projects, you will oversee and manage the development and execution of assigned projects, ensuring they are completed on-time, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications and requirements. You will be responsible for coordinating with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure successful system design, installation, integration, and programming of lighting control systems.
Organizational Responsibilities:
- Maintain and operate per company quality standards in all work activities.
- Develop and maintain system design standards across all projects.
- Work with 4Wall project teams to conform to engineering, CAD, and BIM standards.
- Work with the 4Wall project team to develop and maintain system design standards across projects.
Personal Responsibilities:
- Develop conceptual lighting control designs in collaboration with the project team.
- Work with equipment manufacturers to develop and implement standard applications of equipment throughout projects.
- Work with the 4Wall project team to complete and document the specified design for a functional lighting control system.
- Work with the 4Wall project team and Client teams to maintain the submittal schedule for design deliverables.
- Collaborate with external partners to develop interfaces between lighting control systems and third-party control systems including but not limited to Ride Control, Show Control, BMS, and Emergency Systems.
- Perform onsite system commissioning, troubleshooting.
- Assist in and coordinate pre-programming and creative programming efforts for lighting control systems.
- Oversee overall programming and configuration of project systems.
- Coordinate and conduct site walks with project management, engineering, and installation teams to gather information.
- Develop and conduct equipment demos and mockups for clients.
- Support Sales with technical design assistance, drawing review, and input for resource estimation.
- Provide local Systems and Design offices with project specification, engineering, programming, and field service support.
- Create a detailed work plan which identifies resources and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project; review the schedule with senior management and other staff that will be affected; revise the schedule as required.
- Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
- Evaluate and report project outcomes to management.
- Initiate a discovery phase to gather project data and specifications.
- Coordinate design and drawing requirements, work with internal resources to provide submittals.
- Select staff and/or contract consultants with appropriate skills.
- Supervise installation crews and subcontractors as required.
- Manage purchase orders, approvals, and payments for outside resources.
- Update stakeholders, management, project team members, and clients on project progress.
- Coordinate procurement and release of project materials as required.
- Process RMAs as required.
- Monitor and approve budgeted project expenditures, reporting variances to senior management.
- Complete final punch list items, conduct final systems checks, ensure a final handover, and issue a warranty letter.
- Organize client training sessions.
- Other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements:
- 5+ years of project planning and/or management experience in the construction or entertainment field.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre or a similar field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Solid knowledge of electricity and electronics.
- In-depth knowledge of DMX, SACN, RDM, and manufacturer-specific lighting networking protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret system drawings, electrical schematics, architectural plans, and lighting plots.
- ETC Certified Commissioning Technician preferred.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Must have an in-depth understanding of lighting technologies, protocols, and software.
- Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in relevant software including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Paradigm Light Designer, Paradigm Control Designer, Mosaic Designer, Net3 Concert, etc.
Physical Requirements
- The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit, stand, walk, or climb. The employee may be on their feet for the full duration of their shift. Regular use of computer monitors, and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. When available, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort.
Availability:
- Must be available on-call in the evenings and weekends, as required.
Position Location and/or Territory and Travel:
- This position will be required to travel on occasion.
- This position will be required to work in both an office and a field environment.
