Audio Department Technician

AUDIO DEPARTMENT TECHNICIAN

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Operations Manager / Shop Foreman
Supervises: N/A


General Summary 

The Audio Department Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and quality control of speakers, amps, microphones, digital and analog mixers, com systems, and DANTE networks.  This includes inspecting, prepping, maintaining and organizing all audio gear per 4Wall quality standards and procedures.

Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate per 4Wall quality standards in all work activities 

Personal Responsibilities

  • With the team, successfully execute all pick lists on a timely and consistent basis.
  • Check-in and -out orders including scanning equipment barcodes and entering quantity count data in RentalWorks.
  • Building audio systems to show specifications 
  • Cleaning and organizing the gear and the work area.
  • Test and troubleshoot all audio equipment functions, this includes speakers, amps, microphones, digital and analog mixers, com systems, and DANTE networks. 
  • General repair and maintenance of the equipment.
  • Maintain high-level quality control and implement software updates as needed.
  • Prepare/prep equipment for orders and return equipment back to inventory.
  • Wear the proper safety mask when painting at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Team Responsibilities

  • Learn and work in other departments within the Shop as requested by the Operations Manager or Shop Foreman.
  • Communicate in a positive and professional manner with all 4Wall Entertainment employees. 
  • Maintain accountability and the highest level of customer relations.
  • Work in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to your direct supervisor, Operations Manager, or General Manager.

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrated technical/electronics training and/or experience.
  • Must have good troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to build audio systems based off the specs of a show.  
  • Must be able to take directions as well as multi-task in a fast-paced environment without supervision.
  • Must have a positive attitude, be team-oriented and have great customer service skills. 
  • Knowledge of how to set up, strike and operate all gear within the Audio department.
  • Experience in the entertainment lighting industry is strongly preferred.
  • Must be willing to remain clean shaven to wear a respirator and in order to pass the medical clearance for fit test.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.; duties include loading and unloading trucks

Physical Requirements

The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly stand and walk. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must regularly push, pull, bend, climb, reach, twist, and kneel as well as lift and/or move 50 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include communication and visual acuity such as close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the employee will not be in a temperature-controlled work environment and may experience temperature variations due to local weather conditions.

Availability:

  • Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.
