General Summary
The Dock/Logistics Manager has the primary responsibility of providing coordination, supervision, planning, and support for the Dock, Drivers and Check-in Departments and has responsibility for providing coordination, planning, and support for all pieces moving in and out of the office. This role requires excellent organizational skills that ensure our team members are providing the very best customer service.
Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:
Organizational Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate per 4Wall quality standards in all work activities.
- Actively encourage and participate with employee engagement and culture-building initiatives.
Personal Responsibilities
- Establish priorities, provide direction, assign tasks, coordinate and support the Dock, Drivers and Check-In teams to ensure productivity and instill initiative.
- Responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments via Common Carriers, 3PL, or Air Cargo shipments by choosing the most optimal shipping method to meet customer expectations & budgets.
- Enter and maintain inventory records in RentalWorks.
- Stage and sort products for loading.
- Move equipment within the warehouse by operating forklifts, pallet jacks and a variety of warehouse mechanical equipment.
- Oversee and assist with loading and unloading trailers and/or client pick-ups; identify damaged products when received.
- Complete daily logs.
- Ensures all equipment is gathered from the respective departments and are loaded correctly, prior to departure.
- Responsible for scheduling truck pick-ups/drop offs, as needed.
- Interact with all customers, internal and external, in a professional, friendly manner and provide outstanding customer service.
- Ensure all drivers have the training and licenses required to operate their specific vehicles. Ensure all DOT-regulations are being adhered to.
- Generate accurate shipping labels and prepare bills of lading for all outbound and inbound orders.
- Obtain multiple shipping quotes from vendors from standard pallet shipments to multiple 53’ truck orders; generate freight quotes for sales team.
- Write PO’s for shipping vendors and manage to completion.
- Communicate with sales staff and operations team on all logistics pertaining to orders.
- Schedule internal subrental shipments and transfers; assist in monitoring of sub-rental returns.
- Generate and control missing and damage reports; file claims for damage or lost shipments.
- Generate Late Returns report and communicate with agents in a timely manner.
- Track, analyze and file claims for failed shipments to ensure they do not repeat.
- Generate summary reports monthly to track shipping effectiveness and ways to improve.
- Other duties as assigned.
Team Responsibilities
- Learn and work in other departments within the Shop as requested by the Operations Manager or Shop Foreman.
- Communicate in a positive and professional manner with all 4Wall Entertainment employees.
- Assist operations in keeping shop facility well maintained
- Wear the proper safety mask when painting at all times.
- Actively check and respond to 4Wall email while on the clock.
- Ensure all team members maintain accountability and the highest level of customer relations.
- Work in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to your direct supervisor, Operations Manager, or General Manager
- Ensure that all employees, vendors, outside contractors, etc. are operating all job tasks, functions and equipment in a safe manner per company policy. Ensure that employees feel comfortable reporting any workplace hazards or safety concerns.
Key Requirements
- At least 4 years of previous warehouse or dock management experience required, including leading drivers and warehouse employees.
- Working knowledge of warehouse functions and operations, such as security and safety programs, loading docks, scheduling pick up/drop offs.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and requirements.
- Computer skills, including working knowledge of the internet, Outlook, Excel, and the ability to learn new software.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to direct, coach, mentor, and support team members.
- Must be able to give directions as well as multi-task in a fast-paced environment without supervision.
- Must have a positive attitude, be team-oriented and have great customer service skills.
- Understanding and knowledge of theatrical lighting, staging, rigging, and entertainment equipment is preferred.
- Must be willing to remain clean shaven to wear a respirator and in order to pass the medical clearance for fit test.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.; duties include loading and unloading trucks.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
Physical Requirements
The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly stand and walk. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must regularly push, pull, bend, climb, reach, twist, and kneel as well as lift and/or move 50 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include communication and visual acuity such as close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the employee will not be in a temperature-controlled work environment and may experience temperature variations due to local weather conditions.
Availability
- Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.
