DIRECTOR OF LIVE EVENTS

JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: COGS: Labor - Internal 
Reports to: Senior VP of Live Events
Supervises: Crew Chiefs and Road Staff/Crew Chief IIs

General Summary

The Director of Live Event’s primary role is to oversee the crew chiefs and work with the Senior VP of Live Events and other Account Executives to support clients and find business opportunities. This role is responsible for ensuring that all events/jobs requiring labor are properly staffed with quality employees that will represent the company favorably and are providing the very best customer service.

Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent service to existing clients to maintain and improve their relationship with the company.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge in live event logistics and awareness of crew chief needs in regards to building shows, executing preps, and ensuring on-site success for the production staff.
  • Maintain and operate 4Wall quality standard in all work activities.

Personal Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the VP of Live Events, proactively build strategic business relationships to obtain new and repeat customers.  Plan and organize a sales strategy for development of revenue streams with new business contacts and customers. 
  • Enter and maintain orders into inventory software system and communicate equipment requirements and timeframes to Operations and Logistics Departments.
  • Assist clients in all aspects of creating a quality show, as needed, including equipment choices, review of show files, executing prep and trucking, ensuring quality control of equipment and labor offerings on-site
  • Scheduling, coordination, and supervision of all crew chiefs, temporary and contracted employees per specification of event/job.  Rectify any foreseen shortages in labor in a timely manner
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Team Responsibilities

  • Communicate in a positive and professional manner with all clients, vendors, and 4Wall employees
  • Ensure that all employees, vendors, outside contractors, etc. are operating all job tasks, functions and equipment in a safe manner per company policy.  Ensure that employees feel comfortable reporting any work place hazards or safety concerns

Key Requirements:

  • Understanding and knowledge of theatrical lighting, staging, rigging, and entertainment equipment is required. 
  • Experience in entertainment lighting industry is required.
  • Proficiency in project and task management, and applications such as Word, Excel, AutoCAD/Vectorworks and inventory software systems.
  • Must be extremely organized and have excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, adapt to rising challenges and own all aspects of a project
  • Must adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and other management directives.

Physical Requirements

The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit. The employee may choose to stand and move within their working area. Generally, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort. When the employee is on-site, the position will require to regularly push, pull, bend, climb, reach, twist, and kneel as well as lift and/or move 75-100 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include communication and visual acuity such as close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. On-site, the employee will not be in a temperature-controlled work environment and may experience temperature variations due to local weather conditions. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to communicate.

Availability:

  • Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.
