General summary
The Technical Director is responsible for providing technical advice to the sales team and their clients on lighting and video components and the system as a whole to meet client needs and expectations.
Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:
Organizational Responsibilities
- Oversee staff levels of Production crew. Communication with VP of Client Services if there are shortages in staff.
- Maintain a high-level of product knowledge and awareness of client needs in regard to building shows, executing preps, and ensuring on-site success for the client.
- Provide excellent service to existing clients through continued communication to maintain and improve their relationship with the company.
Personal Responsibilities
- Oversee each project life cycle from conception to completion, with an emphasis on technical soundness and resource efficiency.
- Analyze client needs and expectations to develop a technological strategy to make the project realized.
- Establish standards and procedures to track and mesaure project's progression.
- Oversees technical design documentation process for correctness and timeliness
- Provides input to the other disciplines on the practicality of initial design goals and impact to the overall project timeline
- Make sure all equipment for a show is functional, maintained and safe.
- Assist in creating budgets, work within the budget, and track progress of it throughout each individual project.
- Review all drawings and renderings of construction, lighting, electrical, etc. components for the overall project with an eye toward effeciencies and potential problems.
- Schedule and supervise crews for coordinating load-in, set-up, and tear-down of show.
- Other duties as assigned.
Team Responsibilities
- Communicate in a positive and professional manner with all clients, vendors, and 4Wall employees.
- Interface with sales team, operations, and end user to assist in managing and implementing a service or product solution that meets the budget and creative criteria for new or existing projects.
- Work collaboratively with internal customers, clients and vendors.
- Participate in team meetings, assist and train team members, take responsibility for contributing to the success of the team, offer solutions to team problems and promote a positive team environment.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in entertainment lighting, staging and video business
- Ability to work well with others and collaborate on projects.
- Ability to see projects through from beginning to end
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to direct, coach, mentor, and support team members.
- Proficiency in project and task management, and applications such as Word, Excel, AutoCAD/Vectorworks and inventory software systems.
- Must be extremely organized and have excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills.
- Must adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and other management directives.
Physical Requirements
The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit, stand and walk. When the employee is on-site, the position will require to regularly push, pull, bend, climb, reach, twist, and kneel as well as lift and/or move 50 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include communication and visual acuity such as close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort. On-site, the employee will not be in a temperature-controlled work environment and may experience temperature variations due to local weather conditions. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to communicate.
Availability:
- Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.

- Based on the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), management has analyzed this position and determined it to be exempt due to the Administrative Exemption rule.
