General Summary
The Collections agent is responsible for maintaining the accounts receivable aging at their assigned locations while working to collect and minimize timely and past due payments. The position requires critical thinking and investigative skills to assist in determining and resolving customer disputes.
Responsibilities of Position: Duties include but are not limited to:
Organizational Responsibilities
- Providing excellent service through communication with customers.
Personal Responsibilities
- Communicate with customers diligently, courteously and professionally while collecting payments.
- Initiate strategies for collection processes and procedures.
- Work closely with customers to pay past due amounts.
- Collaborate with Accounts Receivable staff when necessary to obtain further information to collect.
- Retain customer loyalty while initiating processes for collection of payments.
- Maintain and update record of customers from whom collections are made.
- Other duties as assigned.
Team Responsibilities
- Perform additional tasks to assist the Credit Manager and other locations as needed.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or similar field, preferred
- 5 years of sales or accounting experience required
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to plan and organize, prioritize, and problem solve
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Must adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and other management directives.
Physical Requirements
The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly sit. The employee may choose to stand and move within their working area. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 2 pounds. Other physical requirements of the job include the ability to communicate. Generally, the employee will be in a temperature-controlled work environment set for general comfort.
Availability
- Must be available to work in the evenings and weekends, as required.
